This route is described for 3 days. This is one of the most beautiful and contrasting routes in the Almaty region. You will see the Mountain Valley Turgen' - plateau Assy - steppe mountains Sogety - steppe plateau Sogety - Charyn Canyon.

1 day. Almaty - Turgen gorge - "bearish" waterfall - guesthouse.
Transfer Almaty to Turgen Gorge ( 2h ) . Coffeebreak in the guesthouse .
Hike to "Bearicsh" waterfall, about 1h. Return to the guesthouse .
In the guesthouse we will have dinner and rest. For a nice evening we prepare mulled wine or beer. After dinner we will have a "Russian bath" and drink tea with mountain honey. Overnight in the guesthouse.

2 day. Observatory - Plateau Assy - petroglyphs - red rocks. ,
Breakfast . After breakfast we continue to move up the Turgen Gorge . The road is very picturesque. The road goes along the mountain river Turgen' . Slopes are covered with Tien Shan spruce.
Our first goal is the Assy pass ( 2,750 meters above sea level) where we find the observatory. And where we can enjoy a wonderful view of the Assy plateau. This plateau has a length of about 40km. It is a traditional place where nomads let their cattle graze. If our tour will take place from June to August we will also be able to see dozens of yurts. As well as hundreds of sheep and horses. This is a traditional activity of Kazakhs .
After half an hour drive, we come to the place where ancient petroglyphs are inscribed in rocks . Here we will have lunch. This little-known place is a treasure for scientists and tourists .
After lunch we will continue wandering on the plateau for about 1.5 hours. Trying the traditional drink of the nomads - koumiss (fermented mare's milk) should not be missed.
Where the plateau Assy ends, begin the steppe mountains of Toraigyr . A serpentine road descends between rocky gorges. We will stop at a beautiful location next to the river. There is a remarkable "geological outcrop" - a red rock. Here we will have dinner. And camp for the night. In the evening, you can build a fire and enjoy a wonderful time. I think this is one of the most pleasant and beautiful camping sites in our area.
If you do not like to have a night in a tent. We can stay in the guest yurts on the plateau (an additional 30 euros / $ 43 per person)

Breakfast. A descent from the plateau to the Bortagay reservoir in some 2 hours. We'll move from the steppe mountains to the steppe plateau, and canyons farther away.
Lunch in the cafe at the Kokpek pass. Transfer to Charyn Canyon - 1h. Walking through the canyon. Lunch. Return to Almaty. Dinner at a road cafe.
